Yes you read that correctly.Salsa dancing on top of a volcano…is exactly what occurred when a few thousand park visitors and salsa aficionados congregated on top of Mt.Taboryesterday evening . Around 6:30pm, Melao de Cuba, took the stage and kicked off a 2hour streak of afro-rhythms meshed with solid salsa inspired beats which inspired the audience to start dancing.

Sometimes waiting to the last minute does pay off…
It’s 7:30pm and I just finished getting ready to go to the Afro Cuban Allstars Concert in downtown Portland. I go through my checklist “wallet?Got it.Keys? Got em. Tickets? Oh sh#$!
So I get online to the Roseland Theater website-and I see that at 7:31,a half an hour before the concert was supposed to begin)they disabled the online ticket buying option-WTF! “Calm down,”I think to myself. Worst case scenario I’ll have to pay a couple of extra bucks at the door- $25-30 as opposed to $22 online-No big deal-right?
As I’m arriving outside the entrance of the Roseland Theater I hear, “Have you bought your tickets?”being asked to the couple ahead of me.The couple,though,walks straight through without even acknowledging the question. I brace myself with the thought that I might have to shell out an extra $20 more bucks,than I was planning,as I ponder whether or not I think $45 total would be worth seeing the Afro-Cuban Allstars.
