Sometime after work this last Tuesday,the Band Afincando set up shop and started playing Salsa to a parking lot of residents and passerby’s of the Northwest Towers off of Flanders and 19th in NW Portland.
Every now and then an individual or two would get up and dance as Afincando shelled out the latin beats. And although there was a free barbecue while Afincando was grooving the house down,the event was sparsely attended. It would have been nice if there would have been more publicity regarding the event and what it was about.
This last Sunday we celebrated Amy’s birthday party down south. Amy was a regular in the Pdx Salsa scene but a few months ago she took a job in”…the land down under where women something,something?and men blunder, ”as the Men at Work would sing.And like the Men down under we again headed to Cha Cha Cha’s Restaurant in Milwaukie, which is kind of “down under,”Portland,that is, to get the scoop on her party.
As you can see along with some cake,a birthday song and relaxed Salsa Dancing,if there’s such a thing,overall we had (more…)
